Where the records come from
Wikidata
The structured record of a monument: its name, its type, its country, its date range and the statements its sources carry. Every claim in the Atlas points back to the item it came from.
OpenStreetMap
The map. Every monument is placed at the point it stands, and the map data is the record of that point.
Wikimedia Commons
The photographs. Every picture is hot-linked from Commons with its author, its licence and the file page, and no image is used whose licence the Atlas does not allow.
Wikipedia
The reading. Where a record has a summary, it is written from the text of the cited article and the article is linked.
The Atlas does not publish a count per source yet: the registers overlap, and a double count would be worse than no number. Each record names its own sources on its own page.
Special places
A UNESCO record links to its official World Heritage listing. A fringe record carries the claim, the mainstream position, and the status of the claim.
