Report a correction

If a page is wrong — a date, a name, a photograph, a source, a translation — say so here. Every report is read by a person, and the fix goes into the catalogue rather than into a private answer.

Pick the closest one. It only tells us where to look first.
The record the report is about, if you know it.
What the page says now, and what it should say instead.
Optional. A link to a report, an article or a register entry that shows the correction.
Optional, and only so we can tell you what happened. It is never published and never used for anything else.

What happens next

What happens to a report

  1. It is read

Reports are read in order by an editor, not by a filter. A report that points at a source is checked against that source.

  2. It is checked

A correction that the sources support goes into the catalogue. A correction that they do not support is not made, and the report is answered so you know why.

  3. It is published

A corrected page carries the corrected record, and its sources list shows where the new value came from. Nothing is quietly altered.

  4. You hear back

If you left an address, the answer goes to it. Nothing about the report is published, and the address is never used for anything else.
